The annual festivals pictured events of historic importance to ancient Israel, and today to the true Christian. Recall that when God revealed His weekly Sabbath to the Israelites, it was a sign and a memorial so they would remember that He is the Creator and that they were His people. And God also gave them the annual festivals for His Church showing the plan of God in eventually delivering the entire world from sin.
Rubies as gemstones have been prized by kings and craftsmen for many years. Various Scriptures place value on qualities such as wisdom and integrity above that of these gemstones. As true Christians, we will consider how we can be refined by our faith in the Father and Jesus Christ, as rubies are refined by heat and pressure.
God always keeps His promises. He doesn’t promise a pain-free journey, but He promises His presence, His hope, and His plan. His promises call us not just to wait for outcomes but to seek Him, to draw near, to call on Him, and to trust that He listens and responds. Even when we feel lost or stuck, He is a God of restoration, bringing us back from every form of captivity. Our seasons of waiting aren’t wasted when they draw us closer to the Promise-Giver Himself.
How is the shed blood of Christ fundamentally different from the blood of animal sacrifices in the Old Testament? What was the purpose of animal sacrifices and the blood of the Passover lamb? How can we overcome moments of defeat, as in the examples of those who have failed throughout history only to succeed, as well as individuals in the Bible who experienced failure but then overcame it through faith, leading them to success?
We are required to examine ourselves before the annual Passover evening. Why is this so important? When we examine ourselves, we do so to look for a positive outcome. God is wanting us to be making positive progress.
Finding true refuge is an illusive dream for many downtrodden people. However, that opportunity is available for those whom God has and will call to be a part of His eternal Family. Can we say that God is also our refuge?
