We are told that Pope Leo XIV has become the most important American in the world. We are also confronted with his declaration that unity among Christians can only be unity in faith. In saying this, he referred to the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea. What was that council; what did it decide; and what were the consequences for those who did not agree with that decision? Could something similar happen again in the future?
