When Saul was in desperate trouble he sought a medium – the witch at En Dor – to raise Samuel from the dead (1 Samuel 28).   So desperate did he see his own situation that he wanted to consult a medium – those who practiced this art he had banished from the land.   Was this Samuel or a demon, an evil spirit, impersonating Samuel?   The answer is clear when the Scriptures are put together.

Christianity is a job for you and me! We have been given work to accomplish, and we are promised payment. God clearly and emphatically demands that we produce. Understanding our job and the kind of work we need to complete is a vital part of our calling and of our future reward.

Throughout the Bible, we find a clear separation between light and darkness. As children of light, we must not have any fellowship or communion with the works of darkness. But many today do not know the difference between right and wrong, good and evil, light and darkness. The world rejected the true Light, Jesus Christ, at the time of His first Coming. Not much has changed. Very few today are willing to come to the God of Light, Life and Truth–while most continue to follow Satan, the prince of darkness, who transforms himself into an “angel of light.” And so do his ministers. But God pronounces a curse on those who put darkness for light. He wants His people to be lights to the world. Are you such a light? Are you letting your light shine brightly in the midst of a perverse and crooked generation?

In the events we have been portraying in symbolic ways during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, we have pictured putting sin out of our lives completely. In this seventh day observance we are picturing reaching the goal to which God has called us. We must understand why we are here and continue to focus on the goal of eternal life in the Kingdom of God.

We are living today in an incredibly angry society. Although there is righteous indignation, our anger is caused most of the times by Satan, the destroyer. And still, we are told that God Himself will pour out His wrath over disobedient and rebellious mankind in the future. How can we reconcile these seeming contradictions? WHY does God tell us that we must overcome anger and wrath? And HOW can we do it?

How God has fore-ordained and planned our future responsibilities well in advance and how God has great joy in executing the plans He has for us.

The Word of God describes His people–who they are and how they are to live in this world. Are we recognized by God as standing among His people in our generation?

In Revelation 14, we find 144,000 saints singing a new song. Why are they singing, what is the significance of the song being new, and why are there only 144,000 who can learn to sing this song? Examining the context of this event and analyzing it in relationship to other events of rejoicing, judgment and learning shed light on these questions.

In the “First Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians,” Paul had to deal with internal divisions amongst Church members at Corinth. His timeless message is as relevant for us today, as it was in the days of Paul. Where DO divisions come from, and HOW can they be solved?

At the Tower of Babel, over 4,000 years ago, God decided to confound the language in order to restrict the ambition of man at that time.  This sermon looks briefly at several areas – knowledge with particular reference to the internet, technology, cloning, outer space, sexual behaviour and mind pollution, but there are many other areas that could fall into the same categories – areas where we are reaching the point – if we haven’t already done so – where nothing shall be restained from them.  That was a telling phrase over 4,000 years ago and God took action.  4,000 years later, we are in the same position again where “Nothing Shall Be Restrained From Them.”  God will again take action – this time sending Jesus Christ back to this earth. 

There is some confusion even in the Churches if God about this subject and the purpose is to clarify God’s position in  it.

This sermon looks at some of the problems in the early Corinthian church as well as problems experienced more recently, and what our response should be particularly with the Passover coming up in the future.
The first letter to the Corinthians, as well as other parts of the New Testament, describe all sorts of problems that were extant in the church at that time.  Some of these things seemed to be consuming member’s lives to the point where they were focused on themselves and on the concerns of their immediate physical world, losing their focus on God, His Commandments and His purpose for their lives.  We face the same challenges today.  Unless we take the time to draw close – and stay close to God – and determine to live by His instructions – we too can lose our focus with all the disastrous consequences that that can have.  We need to ensure that our focus is where it should be, and the Passover season is the time to make any vital course corrections that may be necessary.

Pride seems to be commonplace these days. But why is God so displeased with pride? Why is it sometimes so difficult to detect pride in our lives, and to overcome pride? Why is it absolutely essential that we get rid of it? Why will we encounter godly correction if we are proud? Who was the first being allowing pride to overtake him? Against whom is pride directed? And what is the godly characteristic with which we must replace pride?

Psalm 23 refers to God’s Rod and Staff.  Were these actual physical items, or merely figurative?  What other physical items in the Bible also possessed Miraculous or Holy properties?  What did they mean for our ancestors and what significance do they hold for us today?

The accomplishments of modern science have brought into focus nightmare scenarios that were unthinkable in earlier times. The Bible prophesied that in these last days, technological knowledge would increase–but not necessarily for the good of mankind. The question whether God approves or disapproves of certain scientific “progress” rarely enters the mind of man.

What should we do when we are in a situation with somebody, where what we say, how we say it and how we act can either determine a positive or negative outcome?  Since we need to focus on a positive outcome, there are several principles that can be applied to do just that, so we can be a shining example to those we converse with.
